Arizona - But It's a Dry Heat!

While in Taxco this colorful character was more than happy to pose for our cameras. He is a member of the estudiantina. (Student Orchestra)

Look at this image. Here if you go to a museum and see this the caption may read, "This is how our ancenstors used to cook". There, it's still the way they cook. That's my niece taking care of the nixtamal. Nixtamal is the corn that will eventually be maze to make tortillas.

And so she did decide to go for a cruise. I love my sister so much and I always calle her "brujita" or "bruja" (witch), I believe she gets a kick out of it.

I told my sister that even though she didn't have her car her secondary mode of transportation was parked outside the house right next to the lime tree.

I don't post too many "people images" here but during my recent trip to Mexico I photographed many interesting characters that I decided to share some of them with you. This particular image is one I like. The kid just happens to be my nephew.

Chris J, I think you got me hooked on doors and doorways.

Exterminador (exterminator) is a popular group of Mexican music and usually fills up the venues where they play. We were in Mexico the last week of May and first week of June and yet this wall's advertisement indicates that Exterminador will be there in October. That's what I call a heads up.

Another shot of a door, a fence, and the steps. The steps blend so well with the fence that it gives the illusion that the door is too high.

Past the gate you'll see the church of Santa Prisca in Taxco. By far one of the most beautiful and probably most visited churches in Mexico.

Most of us hear the word adobe everyday as we go into our computers and launch our adobe readers. This image shows how they use adobe in Mexico.

You must not for one instant give up the effort to build new lives for yourselves. Creativity means to push open the heavy, groaning doorway to life. This is not an easy struggle. Indeed, it may be the most difficult task in the world, for opening. Daisaku Ikeda

As I mentioned before, these two characters were thrilled to be posing for the camera. And if you know me even just a little bit, then you know I was not going to pass this opportunity up.

While in El Ranchito these two characters saw me taking pictures and the just wanted to be in them. After I captured the images they actually asked me how far where the pictures going to travel and if they would be shown. This is the first of two.

I hear it takes a lot of brass to be a tuba player.

I kept being attracted to the different types of doors and doorways. This one is one of many I photographed.

"In oneself lies the whole world and if you know how to look and learn, the door is there and the key is in your hand. Nobody on earth can give you either the key or the door to open, except yourself." ~Jiddu Krishnamurti

I took this shot on an early Saturday morning. This is the church of the small town of Tetipac. Of all the churches we visited this particular one stood out as the best kept inside and out.

The small adobe structure to the right used to be a chicken coop.
