Arizona - But It's a Dry Heat!

Mural inside Tacos D.F. in South Gate, California. They have some pretty good food of the Mexican kind that you really don't find everywhere. Thanks Chely for taking us.

While cruising down Old Avondale I found this mural on the side of a building. I just had to stop and photograph it. It will now join the many murals I have already captured around Phoenix.

I captured this images last week. The first one the sun was almost gone but there was still enough light for the picture. The second one a truck making a delivery at work had a cool mural painted all over the box and I thought it would make a cool background for my car.

I could have gotten a whole series of murals while at Venice Beach, but I would have run out of memory space in my little camera. Here's one of those that I really liked.

Scene of the side of the road. I took this image as I was at a stop sign. Downtown Phoenix just keeps growing, no stopping the wheels of progress.

On my way to the dentist I spotted this new shopping center. This mural is right at the entrance and it caught my eye immediately.

Here's another image of the underpasses with these great murals all in black and white. It looks as if it was digitally printed on the wall. I just think they look great.

We went to Tucson to visit my daughter and family and on Saturday we decided to just get in the van and drive, kindda to get the feel of Tucson. I took a bunch of pictures which I'll be highlighting here during the next few days. This is a mural that brought memories of when I was a kid living in Mexico, buses did look like that then.

OK, let me pull you away from the Arizona Center. Driving home I saw this wall and I figured it would be a nice shot for my mural and "barrio art" series. There is something about street painting that attract me, normally they all have a story behind the painting as well as the people that did them, but in the end they are there for us to enjoy or hate. Me, I tend to like them.

It took four individual pictures to cover the complete mural, this is the last of the four. I also decided to create a panorama picture with all four fused together.

This is "El Calendario Azteca" or the Aztec Calendar. How was it read or interpreted is still a total mystery to me and yet we see this image in a lot of our stuff including coins.

In the barrio you'll always find murals that show the Latin culture. In this scene you can see the piramids,a Mexican flag flying proud and the skeletons of what once was.
